Shopping in Chiang Rai
Chiang Rai doesn't have as many shopping options as Chiang Mai or Bangkok and the most important shopping spot is the Night Bazaar which is meant for tourists and Mae Sai
Night Bazaar
Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is convenient near the center of town, a short walk from the bus station.
The market consists of many small stands lining the narrow street running between Phaholyothin Road and the bus station. Hilltribe fabrics, silver, beads and needlework dominate the low rent area. Handicrafts go at bargain prices, although negotiation is recommended.

A food court offering a variety of traditional Northern dishes is convenient for an early or late night snack. Or site in the beer garden and people watch.
For a more intimate libation, find the corner of the night market area that has small beer bars. Strike up a conversation with a fellow traveler or one of the local Thais or expats.



Mae Sai

have more hundreds of shops and stalls are situated densely together and extend right to the Thai-Myanmar border. Some popular items are silk and local clothes, silverware, jade, gems, woodcarvings, dried fruits, preserved food and hand-made souvenirs. |
